The movie is dashing and over the top with Queen providing the soundtrack. You figure Joe Namath would have been the Jets quarterback to save us all. The Earth is in danger of the wrath of Ming the Merciless and our only hope is Flash Gordon, a New York Jets quarterback. Flash Gordon was a colorful throwback to the old comic strip and movie serial.
While these two science fiction films have extemely different tones, they pushed the image hard. Arrow Video is entering the world of 4K UHD with two titles that will look so much sweeter with the extra resolution: Flash Gordon and Pitch Black.
